G2c Taurus 9mm - At this time (Summer 2020), a ton of Americans understand the importance of firearm ownership. Many of these people are buying their first - or at least for the first time - handguns. Of all the things to consider when choosing a firearm, price plays an important role. We all want the best value for our money, and we usually settle for something we think is reliable. One of those budget pistol options is the Taurus G2C 9mm, which I'll be covering in this review.
The Taurus G2C is a Brazilian-made two-stack semi-compact pistol derived from the Taurus PT111 Millennium G2. This pistol is available in 9mm Luger and 40 S&W. Taurus makes about 20 different variants of the G2C, from the basic matte black model we used in our review to the same pistol available in almost every color you can imagine. From the outside, it's easy to see why this firearm is so popular. The compact frame and an even smaller price tag make it hard for most to give up.

Taurus isn't exactly a saint in the gun community, and I think it's appropriate for me to address this issue. Some people love them, some don't. A semi-dirty history with quality control issues over the years has brought with it some insecurities. While Demi has had some quality control issues in the past, I will point out that many commend her customer service team and her willingness to resolve issues.
Taurus G2c Vs. Taurus G3c Vs. Taurus G3
It's hard to criticize a pistol for such an affordable price. The saying "you get what you pay for" often applies to the arms industry. The Taurus G2C (in my opinion) is a stealthy entry-level option for those who can't or don't want to spend more. For reference, most pistols in the same class cost around $500.
With the G2C, the Taurus offers an enhanced textured grip, thumb safety, extra rail and a rather impressive 12+1 capacity. The "hand feel" achieved with the Taurus G2C isn't all that great for me - but I'm comparing it to some of the leading options on the market.
Seeing the Taurus G2C in person, I was expecting less for the price, to be honest. It's not a pretty gun, but it's not ugly either. The grip is neatly textured and fits my hand semi-comfortably – a good start here.
I recently took the Taurus G2C to range and loaded several hundred rounds of various types of ammo. The G2C handled all the ammo I handed it over without issue – including some popular self-defense rounds. Recoil was a little stronger than I usually feel from a gun this size, but overall, it's not bad.

One issue I encountered while firing was the trigger guard. The trigger guard seemed to really dig in the middle finger of my right (dominant) hand near my wrist when I tried to maintain a high grip. I believe this is due to the angle of the trigger guard and coupled with the pulling of the trigger - something I'll go into a bit more in depth in this review.
The journal publication in G2C is not advertised as a duplicate. This will definitely discourage left-handed shooters. As for the magazine version setting, I was quite happy with it and had no problems using it. I'll say the release is a little small and a bit sharp around the edges - not a big deal, but worth noting.
Getting the exterior features up and running proved mostly straightforward - though I found the sliding release a bit harsh. I don't prefer to see manual safety on a CCW pistol like the one found on the G2C, but it was quite accessible.
I wasn't expecting much in terms of sight and trigger for a pistol at this price point. In my time with G2C at range my experience with both was poor. I didn't find the sights terrible, but the trigger on the pistol I tested was less than ideal.
Taurus G2c Holster: How To Find The Perfect Holster For Your Taurus G2c
Shooting and reshooting after shoot was manageable with factory footage. G2C has a classic three-point setup and it has proven to be convenient. As with most shots, you won't find them suitable for every low light shot.
The trigger in G2C is something I don't really like. I may have fired nerf guns with better triggers in the past - yes, that's bad. A unique feature of the G2C trigger is that it is a single action with re-shot. I can see how this could be useful in certain situations - although I don't find it necessary.
I had a long trigger pull experience of about 5 pounds with a wall and broke near right behind the trigger guard. While it might not bother some, this trigger style was difficult for me to operate. The trigger didn't look like it broke until I had to press my index finger too hard on the trigger guard.
While I can't say for sure it was connected, the trigger guard seemed to scrape a knuckle on my dominant hand when I squeezed that trigger. I believe very long travel (combined with a lower-than-normal fender) plays a role in this concern.

While at range, I was able to take some time to test the muzzle velocity of the G2C with a popular self-defense round, the Hornady 124 gr. XTP. I fired 5 tracked rounds using a Labrador device, as I usually do for these types of tests.
For reference, Hornady advertises a muzzle velocity of 1,110 feet per second from a 4″ muzzle for 124 gr. XTP.
My testing showed an average muzzle velocity of 1,052 feet per second from the G2C. With the 3.2-inch barrel, these results were quite expected. I've provided the data below for those who want to see a little more information about my rapid muzzle velocity test.
When it comes to accuracy, I usually avoid going too far into it as it largely depends on the shooter. I was pretty confident in the G2C's accuracy and was able to shoot well at self-defense range. Shooting the G2C quickly and accurately seemed a bit more difficult than I usually find with a firearm this size. My theory is that pulling the trigger for a long time is directly related to this experience.
Best Taurus G2c Accessories And Upgrades [2022]
In a saturated gun market with low to high prices, individuals often choose what they think is the best balance of price and quality. G2C has a place in the rankings, although most would say the rankings are pretty low.
If all you can afford is a $200 pistol, then I feel good that once you shoot, the G2C will do the job and take action when needed. However, I personally would struggle to spend that $200-250 on G2C. Some of the more popular options on the market with better trigger, ergonomics, and ultimately better build quality aren't far behind at this price point. If you really only had $200-250 to spend and didn't have the time to save up more, I'd spend that amount on a well-used and reputable firearm. The opportunities are there.
I'm sure this option will continue to be a very popular seller and I can appreciate the amount of gun you get for the price. It is unattractive for myself and others to entrust my life to a firearm made at an extremely low cost.
